Happy Thanksgiving November 2008« Back
I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving from our our house to yours...
Woodstock has a living memory to this wonderful man in the front of our building. On May 2, 1992, he and the entire Rainforest Band came to Woodstock Trading Company in their limo with a dogwood tree flapping out the window. (This came about because he was on the phone with me as the bulldozers took out the trees I had planted some years ago in order to widen Rt. 70). He then proceeded to plant this new tree for us, where it will be and live and hopefully when you visit us, you will pay some attention to what there is around us in this beautiful world we call Earth.
Merl had just returned from the Amazon and was very much involved with our environment…His band was called “The Rainforest Band” and he did much to help bring attention to the environment. One of his representative Albums: Save the Planet so We’ll Have Someplace to Boogie. Saunders collaborated on and off with Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. One of his several albums with Jerry Garcia, Blues From the Rainforest, hit the top 5 of the US Billboard of New Age charts. He played with John Popper (of Blues Travelers) and Trey Anastasio (of Phish). He wrote music for the theme for the New Twilight Zone with Grateful Dead and with Mickey Hart, he worked on the score for the show.
